Cymbalta has been found safe and well-tolerated as a drug treatment for diabetic nerve pain. The study in the Journal of Palliative Medicine also concludes that the Eli Lilly & Co. product does not adversely affect the progression of diabetes or such complications as damage to the nerves, kidneys and eyes.
