The Food and Drug Administration approved a new indication for YAZ (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) tablets for the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris in women at least 14 years of age who want an oral contraceptive for birth control. YAZ is already indicated for treating symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
* Recommended Dosage: The 28-day dosage regimen for facial acne is 1 active tablet daily for 24 consecutive days followed by 1 inert tablet daily for 4 days.
